Save Enough For a Vacation Just By Using Your Spare Change!

sparechange

This might sound too good to be true, but I know several families go one vacation per year just by managing their spare change. Do I have your attention yet? Good! The way to start is by getting a big piggy bank ready and having the self discipline to realize once money goes into that piggy bank, it does not come out until it's time for your reward. Your reward can be a vacation, it can be an item, it can be anything, it's whatever YOU want!

Now, this will only work if you pay for everything with cash, if you use credit cards or debit cards, this is likely not going to work as well. We'll talk more on the benefits of only using cash, but for now, the main benefit will be forced savings. The great thing about this is you won't even miss the money you are saving.

Now, starting today what you will need to do is when you go out shopping, any change that you receive you need to put aside. This includes if you go to one store, put the change aside and don't use it at the next store, by doing this you will see this grow so much faster. When you get home, put all of that change (yes, change - I am not talking bills, only change) into your piggy bank. The trick is to make this a habit, it takes a little bit to get used to, but once you're used to this, it's second nature.

The obvious other thing to do to speed the growth of this fund up is to also make occasional donates of bills, but that is totally up to you. If you just deposit your change, you will be shocked and surprised how much it adds up after several months. Don't believe me? That's ok! Give it a try, I dare you. What do you have to lose? It's your money. If it doesn't work out, you still have it! It's a win-win! If it does work out, you could end up with a nice little extra bonus at the end of the year that you didn't expect!
