Our Target Experience at the Milton Store Grand Opening

We went to the new Target store in Milton today for their grand opening. Let me start by saying most of our comments are negative and I hope that it doesn’t offend anyone. With that being said, when we got to parking lot it was a zoo, it was very difficult to find parking or even navigate. When we were able to get inside the store it was very packed. You could tell there was a lot of people just walking around checking out the new Canadian Target.

I wasn’t impressed with any of their prices. Even their sale prices weren’t that great. I did like their clothes; they had a lot of nice quality and reasonably priced clothes. Their grocery section reminded me of a Zellers grocery section, but a little nicer.

They had a few different items I must say I haven’t seen before. I was very impressed and happy to see Bubble Guppies’ toys. I have been looking for Bubble Guppies’ toys for quite some time so I was extremely happy to see that.

Another downside for me was we went in through the mall entrance and as we were leaving I did have a couple things in my shopping cart. But there was no check out at that entrance had to go to the other side wasn’t too happy about that. So we just ended up leaving.

We did however make sure we got the scoop on some things so here are my final notes and thoughts about the Target Canada Store:

  • You will get 5cents back for each bag of your own in that you need to use.
  • They are about being customers first (right now)
  • They do have the price match guarantee

DVD prices are reasonable, it just depends on which DVDs you are interested in.

There were a lot of empty shelves in the store I don’t know if this is from customers buying stuff throughout the day or if they just weren’t able to stock up all their shelves.

Big question is will I go back, of course, will I make this my main store I go shopping too nope.

They did have Starbucks at the checkout

They are not open as late as Wal-Mart

They didn’t make a big deal out of their grand opening of these stores because they are just testing out their systems to make sure everything goes smoothly for their other store openings. That is why the first three stores where open in smaller towns. They also knew there would be huge crowds coming to check the store out too.

I hope you like my pictures and I am sorry if some turned out blurry.  If you have been to the Target store would love to know what your thoughts are and what you think so far.

If you are interested in more pictures, we have created a gallery specifically for this:

You really can’t make a complete comparison of Wal-Mart and Target. Target has never said that they have the same business plan or values as Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is LOWER than Target in the States… which I don’t think anyone seems to understand.

Ant to be perfectly honest with you – even with the holes in the shelves – the Wal-Mart closest to my house NEVER has what I am looking for.
Or, they never have the inventory to backup their promotions. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to Wal-Mart looking for beauty products and NOT found them… I found their label.. but i didn’t find the product. But you know what… I didn’t write a blog post about it. AND I didn’t run to their Facebook page or Twitter to complain; seriously people, GET REAL.

Another fun part about Wal-Mart.. in the one that is near me you have to FIND an employee to unlock the razors (i.e. Venus, etc.). I can’t even tell you how many times i FINALLY found someone and then they didn’t even come over to help me.

I’m just sayin’ – for all the flack Target’s getting right now… I seriously hope we’re not forgetting what a MESS Wal-Mart can be and what POOR customer service they offer.

I totally Understand and agree with you on some of your points. With that being said everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I Have the save problem at my Walmart with the Razors and think its silly how they do that. They also lock up the baby formula too. it is not fun at all. I agree Walmart doesn’t seem to care about their customers. Where I have found Target does care about their Customers.

I agree – we should demand more as customers. We shouldn’t have empty shelves and have to hunt down employees.

I remember reading an article recently on how Walmart has cut labor so bad that they can’t even get the product out of the back of the store onto the floor, it’s really sad these days what some companies are doing to save a buck.
