Get no fee banking and set yourself free!

What good is a bank? Obviously they provide a well needed financial service which we benefit from, but let’s face it, we as bankers/customers are also helping and building the banks that we deal with grow and profit. Surely our patronage deserves something, doesn’t it?

No fee banking isn’t just something from the movies anymore, it’s something that we can all enjoy now! In Canada, the two biggest no fee banking companies are ING Direct and PC Bank/PC Financial. Both offer a variety of services from a basic chequing and savings account to lines of credit, credit cards and mortgages.

Let’s look at more details.

While these interest rates obviously will not make you rich overnight, the main benefit from both ING Direct and PC Bank/PC Financial is the no fees banking. Think about how much you spend each month on bank fees. The “Value Plus” package at TD Canada Trust is $10.95 a month, over a year that’s $131.40. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather keep that money in the bank in my account instead of giving it to the bank to keep.
